Punching Knives
Punching knives are precision cutting tools used to punch, cut out and separate defined shapes from flat materials. They are used in a wide range of industrial applications for materials such as elastomers, rubber, plastics, leather, textiles, paper, cardboard, films and other sheet-like materials.

Solid Steel Punching Knives
Solid steel punching knives are manufactured from a solid piece of high-quality tool steel. A commonly used material is tool steel 1.2379 (D2), which can be hardened and precision-ground to achieve high wear resistance and dimensional stability.
Solid steel punching knives are particularly suitable for:
- Thick and demanding materials
- Elastomers and rubber
- Applications requiring high dimensional accuracy
- Complex or very small contours
- High production volumes
- Applications where repeated regrinding is required

Hardened and Ground Punching Knives
After machining and heat treatment, punching knives can be precision-ground to achieve the required dimensions and cutting-edge geometry.
Hardening increases wear resistance and allows the tool to withstand repeated punching operations. Precision grinding ensures that the contour, dimensions and cutting edge meet the required specifications.
Depending on the design, solid steel punching knives can often be reground several times. This can significantly extend tool life and reduce replacement costs.

Custom Punching Knives and Dies
We manufacture custom punching knives and dies according to customer drawings, specifications or samples.
Individual contours, dimensions and mounting features can be produced to suit the respective punching machine and application. Solid steel construction is particularly advantageous where small radii, narrow contours or high dimensional accuracy are required.
Strip Steel Punching Knives
Strip steel punching knives are manufactured from hardened strip steel formed into the required contour and mounted into a suitable base or carrier.
Compared with solid steel tools, strip steel punching knives can be an economical solution for many punching applications, particularly when larger or less complex contours are required.
The appropriate tool design depends on the material, thickness, contour, production volume and required service life.
